On Friday 22nd June, I went to the Sixth Annual Bible School at Salem Baptist Church, Ramsey. The preacher was Alun McNabb of Stafford. He preached on Psalm 11:7:
"For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright."
The Consequences of the righteous Lord loving righteousness:
1) He wants a righteous people
2) He gives us a righteous standing
3) He calls us to a righteous lifestyle
4) He promises us a righteous home.
I spoke to Pastor McNabb after the service, remarking that like Geoff Thomas whom I had heard preach the previous month, more than simply presenting a message and its points, he had a way of making his message personal. He replied that preaching is "truth through personality", and Pastor Jeremy Brooks of Ramsey said this also. This saying, it seems, is originally from Phillips Brooks, who as well as being regarded as the greatest 19th century American preacher, also wrote O Little Town of Bethlehem.
